Gratitude – July 11

Woo hoo!!  The weekend is finally here, and I am ready for it!  My work week was exceptionally busy this week and I am looking forward to having time to read, relax, and visit with friends this weekend.  This is going to be a short post because I am going to start my relaxing by going to bed early tonight. 🙂

Today I am grateful for the Dunkin’ Donuts coffee that my friend at work brings me every Friday morning.

I am grateful for being able to buckle down and get my work done today, after a week full of distractions kept me from getting some important things finished.

I am thankful for the yoga class that I went to this evening with a friend that I have known for 35 years.  I am also thankful that tonight my balance was pretty good, so I was able to think less about falling over and more about staying in the moment and breathing.

I am grateful that when I got home from yoga, my Honey had a delicious dinner made for us.

I am thankful for the hot bubble bath I just got out of to write this post.

I am thankful that I don’t have to set the alarm for tomorrow morning.

I am grateful that gratitude is the subject of so many blogs lately!!  I’ve been reading about it everywhere, so it must be something that we’re all thinking about.  And you know what?  I think that taking a few moments to remember the things that I’m grateful for, big and small, has really improved my mood, outlook, and perspective on the things that normally get me down. So, if you haven’t already, give it a shot!  Jot down a few things you’re thankful for in a notebook or journal, or share them with a loved one, or type them out in the comments below.  Try it for a week and see if maybe it changes your perspective too.

Happy Friday!!!

Gratitude – July 2

july 2

Tonight, as I get ready to settle down and go to bed, I am grateful for so many things.  I had a day full of rest and relaxation because I am on vacation from work this week.   Here are some of the things that made me pause and remember how lucky I am.

  • After looking in the fridge and determining that we clearly had no food, and that we would all starve when dinner time came because  no one wanted to go to the store, my husband whipped up a delicious dinner of pork roast with caramelized carrots, mashed potatoes, and english peas.  It was a fantastic meal, I don’t know how he did it – when I looked in the fridge and pantry I thought  we were going to have to eat a ketchup and pickled beet salad.  My Honey is magic.
  • As I am off work this week, I am thankful that I am learning the difference between feeling bored and relaxing.  As my days off approached, I was both looking forward to them and apprehensive about taking them.  Often when I feel like I don’t have a 2 page to-do list, I begin to feel restless and start to fear boredom. Boredom is one of the reasons that I used to drink, and it scares me when I think I am starting to feel it.  I haven’t had any of that so far this week!  I have been able to be peaceful and grateful even just laying on the couch and cuddling with my dog.  I am starting to feel like my batteries are recharging.  That’s definitely something to be thankful for.
  • I am grateful for my husband’s t-shirts and boxers because that’s what I wore all day today…no make-up, hair in a ponytail, and comfy clothes.  So much nicer than heels and spanx and business attire.  I could get used to this!

Tonight I will go to sleep with a smile on my face, I am a lucky girl. 🙂

I would love to see your gratitude lists too.  Please share.
